About Nanaimo Theatre Group

Our History

Founded in 1960, Nanaimo Theatre Group has grown from a small community theatre into one of the premier producing organizations on Vancouver Island. For more than six decades, our volunteer-driven organization has staged hundreds of productions, from classic dramas to contemporary comedies, musicals to experimental works.

Our home, The Bailey Studio, is a beautiful 200-seat theatre located at 2373 Rosstown Road. This intimate venue allows us to create meaningful connections between our performers and audiences, making theatre accessible and engaging for our entire community.

What sets us apart is our deep commitment to nurturing local talent. We provide training through our summer workshops, mentorship programs, and production opportunities for aspiring actors, directors, designers, and technicians. Many of our members have gone on to professional careers in theatre and entertainment.
